Knock Yourself Out with Sport Lux…

Ever had one of those weeks where by the end you just feel like life has beaten you up a bit? Well, I almost had one and right now I’m not a jolly Dolly, I’m a ‘kick ass life tried taking me on and lost’ Dolly! Well don’t be too scared, I’m still hard on the outside and soft as ever on the inside (shhhh don’t tell anyone) and this week’s post isn’t just about winners and losers; it’s also about fashion (of course!) and other aspects of my life. Firstly, I know Sports Lux has been in vogue since 2007, but my favourite glam rag mags (Harpers Bazaar and Cosmo) are still giving it coverage and blissfully the trend is continuing to feature big in some of the elite SL labels including Ce Cubic Effect and COCO. Secondly, I have persuaded Sugar Daddy to join me at circuit training when he returns to the UK next week… he asked me if I was going to kick his ass… what do you think I said?… answers on a postcard please :P.

1. More and more, I find myself turning to Xstreet when I’m styling and can’t find items I know will finish off the ensembles I’m putting together. Whilst the search functionality may not be perfect, it’s certainly an improvement on the inworld search. I’ve found many pieces on Xstreet, including this one, that aren’t available inworld and they tend to be a whole lot cheaper too. EMO Black Star Visor (L$25)

2. I love a freebie just as much as the next girl especially when they’re as yummy as these earrings created by Polyester Partridge. You can pick them up at the GNUbie Store along with a green version and whole host of freebie and dollarbie goodies from some of SL’s most popular designers. Yummy Jewlery Pink Swirly Earrings (L$0)

3. I have one word for these shades… genius! In case you haven’t worked it out yet, they are textured on the lenses with city street reflections. The pack comes with a night and day version. Highly recommended! [ glow ] Studio Shutter Shades Night Version (part of the Shutter Shades day’n’night pack) (L$230)

4. Thanks to Pixelfashion Sally Shoes in White (L$0)

5. Now this may look like your ordinary polo shirt, but as you’ve probably worked out by now, I always go for things that are just that little bit different; this top certainly fits into that category. It has great hand-drawn texturing on the front, but it’s quirkiness lies on the back where you’ll find the cutest gathering finished off with a prim tie. Surf Couture Tie Back Polo in Sour Apple (L$100)

Tongue in Chic…

Those of a sensitive disposition should STOP READING NOW!!!

OK, couldn’t resist eh? I recently had the need to research 1950’s advertising for a RL project I’ve been working on. I love the style of those old adverts, but found the innocence of some of the copy and the sexism hysterical. Well, in my experience, advertising only works if it appeals to the target market and it can only do that if it reflects the opinions and values of the time; so I say ‘don’t blame the ad man!’ However, you can blame me (if you like) for my cheeky and somewhat saucy take on it. But remember, I did warn you :P.

The HOC Industries label first came to my attention in February when I spotted their Sneakers on Xstreet which were featured as the best selling item. With a price label of just L$30 I wondered at first ‘where’s the catch’, but thought I would give them a go considering it a low risk purchase. From the moment I rezzed them, I was in love and I’ve been a big HOC Industries’ fan ever since. Not only are these shoes beautifully crafted from custom textures and sculpties, but they are scripted too meaning that with every pair you get multiple choice colour options. The shoes featured in this post are priced between L$10 and L$30 which is absolutely remarkable value. Guu Nishi, designer of the label, is a thoroughly nice lady and in my opinion a true champion of SL fashion. HOC Industries items can be purchased on Xstreet or at the main store inworld.

*** The generosity of SL content creators never ceases to amaze me and I have 2 designers to thank for helping me put this post together. Antonia Marat, designer of the artilleri label, is the undisputed queen of everything SL retro. She’s recently revamped her main store and launched a separate store for artilleri HOME which is where today’s first and third shots were taken. Many thanks to her for allowing me to take the shots there and for custom making the fabulous tray of muffins for this post. A big thank you also to Tater Skytower for supplying the Cola Machine used in the last shot. Tater is content creator for Taters vintage stuff and this is the place to go for all things Coco Cola! ***
